Why VolgSMU?

The most important part of modern specialist education is the acquisition of practical experience and knowledge which starts with practice from the first hours of training. Most of the students at VolgSMU are future employees of the healthcare system, so they practice their professional skills in medical and preventive institutions. The bases for practice are both clinics in the Volgograd region and the university's own facilities (the Dental Clinical and Diagnostic Center, the Family Medicine Clinic, and the Clinic No. 1). Future doctors begin the process of mastering practical skills on modern simulators in the simulation centers.

The university provides training, retraining and advanced training of highly qualified workers and scientific and pedagogical personnel in postgraduate programs, residency, additional professional education, as well as specialists with secondary medical and pharmaceutical education. The university has electronic reading rooms and electronic library systems that provide access to educational and scientific literature. The pride of the university is rare editions stored in the library.

The educational process involves 2 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 2 corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, more than 170 Doctors of Philosophy, and about 500 Candidates of Science. VolgSMU emphasizes learning through practice, so its teachers have extensive practical experience in healthcare: 18 teachers and scientists have the title of "Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation", and 84 people got "Excellence in Healthcare" title. VolgSMU scientists actively present their development results at international platforms.
